Thursday Dec 28, 2017
Mystery. Intrigue. Manipulation. Poor grammar. We have it all in this week's episode of Beer'd Gamers!
For this episode, we delve into the world of Dungeons and Dragons for a playthrough of Lords of Waterdeep, a Euro-style board game that pits each player, representing a different Lord of Waterdeep, against each other in an effort to recruit agents and acquire gold and victory points. The game lasts 8 rounds, and the player with the most victory points when all scores are tallied is the winner.
Lords of Waterdeep retails for roughly $40-45 depending on the seller, and is a game the Beer'd Gamers recommend for your next game night, especially if you're already a fan of the D&D world.
This episode's beers are Andygator by Abita Brewing Co., Fantasy Factory by Karben4 Brewing, My Turn Micheal from Lakefront Brewery, and Not Your Father's Mountain Ale by Small Town Brewery (because what D&D game isn't complete without Mountain Dew and Doritos?!)

Shadows Over Camelot
Thursday Dec 14, 2017
Thursday Dec 14, 2017
What's that? Who are we that can summon beer and comedy without brewing or comedy experience? There are some who call us....The Beer'd Gamers.
Now that our Monty Python and the Holy Grail joke is out of the way, let us welcome you along on our journey through Camelot, for this week we give you a play through of Shadows Over Camelot, published by Days of Wonder and retailing at roughly $50, depending on the seller.
Shadows Over Camelot sees players taking on the roll of various Knights of the Round Table, joining forces to defeat the game board. Over the course of the quest, a traitor may or may not be revealed, either through his own actions or from accusations from other players. The game can be played with up to seven people, which makes it ideal for game night.
In this episode, we're all drinking beers from different breweries. Teej enjoys Guinness from, well, Guinness. Schnell gives a porter a go when he drinks Lake Louie Brewing's Tommy's Porter. Junior goes with a favorite brewery of ours, Dogfish Head, and drinks their Flesh and Blood IPA. Nelson enters the fantasy realm with Dragon Flute, from Karben4 Brewing. Bottoms up!

Starfarers of Catan
Thursday Dec 07, 2017
Thursday Dec 07, 2017
Have you ever traveled through space minding your own business only to be attacked by space pirates? Or how about being stopped by a merchant trying to peddle his wares, only to be a space priate in disguise? Have you ever played Starfarers of Catan and felt like every damn card you draw is space pirates? Yeah, us, too.
This week, join us as we play through Starfarers of Catan, a Euro-style game set in the Catan-verse. Much like Settlers of Catan, Starfarers is a game of resource collection and development, where players race to be the first to the victory points goal. Points can be earned in a variety of ways, which allows for multiples avenues to acheive victory.
Unfortunately, the game has been out of print since 1995, so unless you've got an old copy lying around, chances are this game will be hard to come by. There have been rumblings from the publisher, Mayfair Games, about a reprint, but they never seem to have a date. Regardless, if you can get your hands on a copy, we highly recommend it.
Oh, yeah, and Junior inadvertantly gets highly vulgar to start off, so make sure you listen for that. Trust us, you can't miss it. Sorry, Mom.

Pandemic
Tuesday Oct 24, 2017
Tuesday Oct 24, 2017
Panic, sickness, disease, and death grip the earth. A new and seemingly unstoppable disease has broken out, and the fate of the world rests on the shoulders of four guys sitting around a card table drinking beer and insulting each other. The debut episode of Beer’d Gamers sees the fellas, along with the help of Contingency Planner Alec Baldwin, frantically trying to save the world (and enjoy a few brews) before it’s destroyed.
This week we’re playing through Pandemic, a cooperative game for 2-4 players. The players play against the board in a race to eradicate four diseases before they spread enough to wipe humanity off of the planet. Pandemic is a great intro game for people who are more casual board game players but are looking to take their first step into more complex and strategic games; the Beer’s Gamers highly recommend it! You can usually find it retailing for somewhere between $20-30, depending on the seller.
Beer selections for this episode include Murphy’s Imported Stout, from Murphy Brewery in Ireland, for Teej, Dr. Venom IPA from Ale Asylum for Schnell, Ghost Hammer IPA from Stone Brewing for Junior, and 12th of Never Ale from Lagunitas for Nelson. Raise a beer and listen along with us!

Evolution: Climate
Tuesday Oct 24, 2017
Tuesday Oct 24, 2017
In our second episode, we are playing through the game Evolution, with the Climate expansion. Evolution sees its players create and adapt species to an ever-changing climate. Food can be abundant or scarce, predators can evolve at any time, and just when players think they've found the perfect combination of traits for their species, the climate can change and wipe them out.
This a fun strategy game where players compete against each other and the board to have the most dominate species to defeat your opponents by having more food or attacking their creatures and killing them. This is a game we had a ton of fun playing together, and it comes highly recommended from us to you. Evolution: Climate is more fun than the base game, Evolution, and can be found for about $45.
In this episode, Teej puts down Ruination from Stone Brewing, Schnell goes classy with Champagne Tortoise from Karben4 (a Beer'd Gamers favorite brewery), Junior gets patriotic and downs 'Merica from Surly Brewing, and Nelson goes full-on plague with Sam Adams Black Lager.
